Aloha again!
Today, I’m sharing the second part of my trip and the many different places we explored on the island. If you want to see the first 3 days, click here.
I may sound like a broken record, but the variety in terrain is so incredible! In one drive we went from being in a vast, rocky desert to being surrounded by lush jungle. Did I mention I am in love with this place?
Day 4: Waihe’e Ridge Trail
This trail was challenging, but so worth the views. It didn’t take long to see the first amazing view and it only got better.
The coolest spider around.
Day 5: The (other) Road to Hana + Waimoku Falls
Looking back, I cannot believe all the beautiful scenery we saw in just one day. Elliot’s goal was to see the whole island so, we decided to go around the other side of the island to get to Hana. Man, am I glad we did. These views are so breathtaking. We were completely surrounded by rock and desert, but there were tons of gorgeous colors everywhere. And still right by the sea!
Next Hyundai commercial?
What was so amazing was the change in scenery. As we drove down these tiny roads, our views turned more and more green. Suddenly, we were in the jungle again.
Then the trail began. It was full of amazing things. My favorite part was the bamboo forest.
The trail was so gorgeous. It had plenty of shade and tons of different types of plants and sights to catch your eye. Before we knew it, we turned the corner and there it was.
We couldn’t help, but get a closer look.
On our way back, we also checked out the 7 pools that people often swim in. There was also a great view of the ocean.
Days 6 + 7: Just Enjoying the View
On our last full day on the island, we visited the most northern part of Maui, the only spot we hadn’t explored yet. It was a pretty relaxed day filled with slow drives and lots of beach time.
For our final day on the island, we had the opportunity to visit with some locals and get a very authentic experience. I’ll share more on that later.
We also found a place called “Jaws,” known for its record breaking waves.
With our flight leaving in the evening, we ended our trip with a visit to our favorite restaurant. It’s got a pretty great view.
Mahalo! If you’re falling in love with Maui as much as I am, stay tuned for my favorite foods from the trip and some of our other adventures!
