Hello dear friends,
I am so excited to share something I’ve been working on for a while.
But first, let me explain. I used to think that a meal consisted of a starch, some piece of meat, and a side of veggies. You know, the typical American meal. You can picture it right? Not that there’s anything wrong with that by any means, but…it’s pretty limiting.
Then a couple of years ago, I started really getting into instagram to find inspiration for healthy and delicious recipes. I started following several fabulous and inspiring ladies who are literally changing the way we look at food. That’s when I discovered:
The Buddha Bowl
Also known as nourish bowls, harvest bowls, and I’m sure lots of other names, buddha bowls are a great way to get in lots of veggies, healthy fats, and good protein. (Find a little history behind the name here.) Throwing everything into a bowl means not limiting yourself to a specific recipe or the typical dinner proportions. It means getting to play around with lots of foods and creating something different every meal.
It can be eaten at any time of day and tailored to work with whatever you have in your kitchen. I tend to keep it simple for breakfast, but then have lots of fun trying out different themes for dinner such as Mediterranean, Thai, Mexican, and so much more.
Today I’m sharing this Buddha Bowl guide I made that can be printed out or simply pulled up on a device to follow along. I suggest gathering the things you already have and seeing what you can throw together!
Although I don’t have a specific recipe or measurements, this printable is meant to be a guide in driving your cooking and helping you get creative in the kitchen when you’re bored of the same old recipes.
That being said, over the next few months, I plan to share several Buddha Bowl recipes that I’ve tried in the past to help guide anyone new to the idea! That way you’ll be able to see how I bring all these things together and make it into a meal. Click the link to download your own Buddha Bowl Guide and be sure to tag me on my Instagram @_simplysophie if you give this a try!
Enjoy!
